Justice Sikri retired on 6 March 2019, but not long time back, this ‘Gentleman’ SC judge was made to go through a shameful hit-job by the lutyens durbaris. Justice Sikri, an outstanding, totally upright, and extremely competent and an honest judge, had to withdraw his consent for a post-retirement post in the Commonwealth Secretariat Arbitral Tribunal (CSAT), because of our rotten and sold, lutyens media.
On 8 January 2019, the SC set aside the order sending CBI Director Alok Verma on leave. They tasked the High Powered Committee, comprising of the Prime Minister of India – Narendra Modi, Leader of Opposition – (Congress MP) Mallikarjun Kharge and a SC appointed judge (CJI Ranjan Gogoi appointed Justice Sikri) to decide on this matter. This committee, having gone through all the relevant documents, and having found compromising evidence against Alok Verma, decided to sack him. But, the so-called fourth pillar of our democracy, the Congress led ecosystem comprising of lutyens darbaris, aka the Indian media, shamelessly sought to tarnish and ruin the reputation of the second-most-senior judge in India by suggesting a quid pro quo in favour of the Modi government. This inspite of the fact, that the Government of India had taken Justice Sikri’s consent in the first week of December, much before he became CJI’s nominee for the High Powered Committee.
The case of Justice Sikri is not an exception. Since 2014, the Indian media has become increasingly biased against Narendra Modi, leveling unsubstantiated charges and innuendos that even the opposition parties would be shy of. Today’s journalists and anchors usually go beyond the scope of just ‘reporting’ the news by giving their personal verdict of the matter, giving viewers very little space to think on their own. With the penetration of the Internet and social media, a truckload of propaganda and lies disguised as news are seeping into more and more Indians every day. This abysmal standard of journalism cares little about facts and figures, their primary aim seems to be to destroy Narendra Modi. In the process, the media risks biasing, even indoctrinating, thousands of ill-informed viewers. Not to mention the aggravating effect these headlines would have on India’s image abroad.

Governments can be criticized and should be criticized. But there is a difference between criticizing governments and attacking India. Attacking India is purely anti-national and deserves the harshest punishment.
To allege that the Modi government is indulging in giving plum postings as quid pro quo is being too generous with creativity.
