Rahul Gandhi is up to mischief again. Ever since the Congress has been ousted from the top seat in May 2014, Rahul Gandhi has been using falsehood and divisive politics as a political gambit to keep himself relevant. As both these tactics seem to be failing, Rahul Gandhi seems to have adopted a new idea, that of flirting with violence and anarchy. For instance, Rahul Gandhi seems to have waged a war against the Hindus, by targeting the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS). Recently, as a part of its “Bharat Jodo” Yatra, the Congress tweeted an image of setting on fire, the RSS’ khaki half-pants. In everyday politics, this symbolism reflects a trigger for sudden and unplanned violence. This carries additional significance due to its timing, as Rahul Gandhi’s yatra had its base in the state of Kerala — a state already infamous for violence against RSS swayamsevaks. Is Rahul Gandhi then trying to ‘Jodo Bharat’ by burning the people who oppose the Congress? The sole motivation for this overkill is to polarize the society purely on communal considerations with the petty aim of reaping electoral dividends.
The Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh:
With volunteers spread worldwide, the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh is the largest voluntary organization in the world. It has 60,929 shakhas spread across 38,390 locations, covering 95% of the districts in the country. The RSS has played a stellar role in nation building since its inception in 1925. Dr. Keshav Baliram Hedgewar, the founder of RSS, himself was a prominent Congress leader. He, along with RSS volunteers were arrested and/or tortured by the British on several occasions for participating in the freedom movement. Be it the Congress’ non-violence movement or the revolutionary movement of the fearless krantikaris, RSS volunteers have contributed towards India’s freedom struggle in every way. In fact, even the oath accorded to its swayamsevaks began with the phrase, “Rashtra ko Swatantra Kar” — ‘By Liberating the Nation’.
During the post-Independence era, the RSS has played a key role with millions of swayamsevaks working round the clock dedicatedly for the nation, without seeking anything in return. From 1947-48 war against Pakistani infiltration in Jammu and Kashmir, or the 1962 Sino-Indian war, or the 1965 attack by Pakistan, RSS has played a vital role in strengthening and securing India.
After Independence the swayamsevaks inspired by the RSS’ ideology have set up more than three dozen organizations. To name a few of them, Vanvasi Kalyan Ashram works in the field of tribal welfare, Bharatiya Mazdoor Sangh works amongst trade unions and workers in both organized and unorganized sector, Sewa Bharati works in urban slums, Vidya Bharati works in the field of education, Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad works with college students, Seema Jagaran Manch works in border areas of the country, Bharatiya Shikshan mandal works with Gurukuls and on the pedagogy of education in our country, Sanskrit Bharati works for the promotion of Sanskrit, Sanskar Bharati works in the field of art and culture, Bharatiya Chitra Sadhana is active in the domain of film making, Laghu Udyog Bharati helps the Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises, Swadeshi Jagaran Manch works for economically self-reliant Bharat and Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) works for organizing Hindus globally and promoting service to the society through Dharma.[1]

During Covid-19, more than a million swayamsevaks risked their lives to help the needy. In any natural calamity or disaster that has struck any part of the country, the RSS swayamsevaks are the first one to reach the ground for rescue, relief and rehabilitation efforts. At present, the RSS volunteers are running around two lakh welfare projects across the country. The focus is to work for the service of the society, to transform Bharat as a nation and society.
Post 2014, inflammatory outbursts promoting hate against RSS were no longer sporadic occurrences, they had assumed a vigorous life of their own. Rahul Gandhi increased the velocity of his viciousness by indulging in blatant dog-whistle platforming of the same. RSS might be the visible target, but the aim is against the Hindu, who has stood behind Narendra Modi, the Prime Minister who proudly wears Hindutva on his sleeve. Today, for the first time since 1947, the Hindu can practice his life without being ashamed of being a Hindu. This hate for the Hindu, however, is not a recent phenomenon.
Hate for the Hindu:
Hate for the Hindu in the minds of the Gandhi dynasty finds its roots in their ancestry. In 1951, ahead of the praan-pratisthapana at Somnath, Nehru called on KM Munshi who was overlooking the temple restoration and said, “I don’t like your trying to restore Somnath. It is Hindu revivalism”. He even admonished the then President of India, Dr. Rajendra Prasad, and confessed, “I confess that I do not like the idea of your associating yourself with a spectacular opening of the Somnath Temple”.
The hate for the Hindu percolates down in the loyal servants of the dynasty. The UPA coined the term, “Hindu/Saffron Terror”; their Home Minister Sushilkumar Shinde said that BJP and the RSS were spreading “Hindu terrorism” via their “training camps”. Erstwhile Home Minister P Chidambaram went a step ahead and “cautioned” law enforcement authorities with regards to “the recently uncovered phenomenon of saffron terror”. Former Union Minister and Congress member Salman Khurshid equated Hindutva with the ideology of ISIS and other Jihadi organizations. They even called 26/11 terror attacks an RSS conspiracy. Recently, former Home Minister, Shivraj Patil said Shri Krishna taught lessons of Jihad to Arjun through the Bhagwat Gita. Be it Sonia Gandhi shedding tears for the terrorists of Batla House, or former PM Manmohan Singh saying that Muslims have the first right over the resources of this country, the Congress’s relentless attacks on Hindus isn’t news for anyone. Congress brought in the infamous Communal Violence Bill under Sonia Gandhi’s chairmanship that targeted Hindus. Wikileaks reported Rahul Gandhi telling US ambassador to India that Hindu groups were a bigger threat than the Lashkar-e-Taiba. Hate begins at the doorsteps of Nehru-Gandhi family.
B̶h̶a̶r̶a̶t̶ ̶J̶o̶d̶o̶:
The Congress had termed the building of Vivekanand statue as wasteful expenditure. Today, Rahul Gandhi has started his Bharat Jodo Yatra from the same Vivekanand Memorial. The arrogance of the dynasty makes them believe that the Hindu cannot see through their tomfoolery. This arrogance makes Rahul Gandhi go through the ritual of temple runs, wearing the janaeu, or its latest edition, “becoming” a Lingayat — every election season. Which begs a logical question: who or what is Rahul Gandhi when he goes to a mosque or visits a Church? A Lingayat? A Janaeu-dhaari Brahmin? A secularist? An atheist scuba-diver? This disconnect between the Nehru-Gandhi dynasty and the New India has only served to highlight how much voters today despise the Congress’ entitlement and their playing the Hindu as fools. This is no longer Nehru’s India where tradition was looked down upon in consonance with the West’s perceptions of India as a regressive nation of rope tricks and snake charmers. This is a New India breaking its colonial ‘mai baap’ mentality, in which dynastic and entitlement politics is perceived only through the prism of achievements tested on the ground. A New India that is rapidly rejecting dynasty as a political enabler and snubbing their anti-Hindu narrative.
Out of power and desperate to get back in, Rahul Gandhi’s strategy is to divide the Hindu, shift the focus away from governance and to do anything and everything to weaken the government till it bows down before him. To achieve this, he is willing to even spread anarchy and fear in the country he wishes to rule over. Insulting the Hindu faith, inviting anti-Hindu “activists” to address gatherings, even the moral callousness of elevating leftist intelligentsia, who have thrived on abusing the Hindu, to heroes — the Congress has got its priorities lopsided. Hate is an unsustainable panacea for fulfilment of a flawed dream of a national resurgence.
Our ancients set real and workable limits to the boundaries of politics by prescribing a restraint known as Dharma. Disdain or disliking for one party, or government, or ideology should not be a justifiable cause for playing into an adversarial plot of dividing the nation. This naïve lot who thinks that they are modern and rebellious if they insult the Hindu, and use spiteful Modi bashing to stay relevant, will only make them redundant. The Congress that seeks to thrive on organized violence needs to be confined to the dustbin of history. Rahul Gandhi and the Congress need to understand that New India’s unity and our bonds are forged not by politics but by something that transcends all of these temporal fancies. Our bonds are forged by our culture, by our traditions, by our festivals, by our way of live — by being a Hindu.
