The Coromandel Express accident is believed to be India’s third-worst train accident since 1980. Investigations so far suggests that the accident took place because of signaling error. Whether the interference that caused this error was manual, weather-related, or anything else would be revealed after full investigations are over.

The Accident: At precisely 6:54 pm, the Shalimar – Chennai Coromandel Express, traveling at a speed of 130 km per hour, received the signal to proceed along the main line towards Chennai. However, at 6:55 pm, an unfortunate error occurred, and the train inadvertently entered the loop line instead. In a devastating turn of events, the Coromandel Express collided with a stationary goods train on the loop line. The impact was so intense that the engine of the Coromandel Express climbed atop the goods train, causing a staggering derailment of 22 compartments. In a parallel twist of fate, at 6:56 pm, the Bengaluru – Howrah superfast express was approaching the same stretch on a neighboring line. In a harrowing turn of events, the derailed Coromandel coaches collided with the tail of the Howrah express, resulting in the derailment of two of its bogies. The sequence of events unfolded rapidly, leaving a trail of destruction in its wake.

Accidents, in various forms and magnitudes, can occur despite the best efforts and precautions taken. When such unfortunate incidents happen, it is crucial to ascertain accountability and hold the responsible parties, including the government, answerable. It is essential to ensure that corrective measures are taken, lessons are learned, and safety protocols are strengthened to prevent similar mishaps in the future. However, it is equally important to refrain from indulging in cheap politics during these challenging times. Exploiting accidents for political gains is a deplorable act that not only undermines the gravity of the situation but also exposes the dark side of political vulturism.

This blatant display of political vulturism only serves to highlight their disregard for the gravity of the situation and their willingness to undermine important national initiatives for their own self-serving agenda.

The indigenously developed Train Collision Avoidance System (TCAS) called ‘Kavach’ is an advanced technology designed to prevent head-on train collisions. It complies with the highest level of safety certification, SIL-4, and is comparable to the European Train Control System. Despite the train accident not being preventable by Kavach and the system not being installed on the affected route, the Congress party shamelessly made baseless accusations about its safety. It is ironic that the development of Kavach began under the Congress rule in 2012, and its trials commenced after 2016, with deployment readiness achieved in 2022. Kavach is the result of the hard work and dedication of Indian researchers and engineers, not politicians. Yet, certain members of the Congress are mocking it solely to take potshots at Prime Minister Modi. Their celebration of imagined failure reveals not just their hatred for the government but also their disdain for India and its people. Their desire for the failure of indigenous technology and harm to fellow citizens exposes their warped priorities driven by political animosity rather than the well-being of the nation. True patriots would appreciate and support initiatives like Kavach, wishing for its success in saving lives and ensuring safer rail travel for all. But Congress, in their relentless pursuit of political gains, has chosen to ignore the significance of indigenous technological advancements and instead resorts to mocking them, displaying a disregard for the progress and well-being of the nation.

Resignation: Demanding the resignation of the Railway Minister, Ashwini Vaishnaw offers no real solutions. Whether one likes it or not, the minister’s expertise and qualifications make him well-suited to handle the responsibilities at hand. Despite 48+ hours since the tragic accident, Ashwini Vaishnaw has been actively leading the rescue and relief operations. In stark contrast, politicians like Mamata, driven by their own petty agendas stooped to a new low during their visit. The minister, on the other hand, remained steadfast and committed to the task at hand. His unwavering commitment and tireless work are truly commendable during this difficult time. This stark contrast is a departure from the past. Unlike the previous Congress regimes, where ministers would make brief statements expressing sorrow over a tragedy and swiftly retreat to the comfort of their air-conditioned cabins, we now witness a different approach. The current government demonstrates a more proactive and hands-on approach, with ministers actively engaging and taking concrete actions in response to such incidents. The demand for resignations from the previous ministers during the Congress regime was fueled by hope for a positive change & a miracle in the form of a new minister. Unfortunately, the subsequent appointments turned out to be even more incompetent. Let us not forget that Lalu Yadav once held the position of Rail Minister. However, capable ministers who are committed to establishing accountability and learning from past mistakes are in charge now. Their presence instills confidence that necessary actions will be taken to rectify the situation and ensure a more competent and responsible governance.

Repeat Offenders: Certain Congress minions wasted no time in linking the incident to Sengol, a recent addition to the Parliament, and used it as a means to mock not only the symbol but also the sentiments of Hindus — reflecting their tendency to exploit any situation for their own political gains, even at the expense of unity and respect for diverse cultural beliefs.

The Congress also attempted to obstruct the procurement process of the critically important Rafale aircraft. The Congress party consistently engages in cheap and divisive politics, which undermines the progress and interests of India.
