Rahul Gandhi: The Pinocchio of Indian Politics

Rahul Gandhi believes it’s his birthright to rule over India. He has a habit of making fabricated allegations beyond facts. Each of his narratives are coated with arrogance and ego and often undermine India’s sovereignty. Now it’s for the people of the country to decide if the self-proclaimed monarch should have freedom to do and say anything against anyone.

RAHUL GANDHI’S PERFORMANCE:

Fifty-two percent. 52% is the parliamentary attendance of Rahul Gandhi, the topmost leader of India’s grand old party controlled by the self-anointed ‘royal family’, and the last of the national figures opposing Prime Minister Narendra Modi as per international media. The national average of attendance is 79%. He has participated in a paltry 6 debates as against the national average of 41. Budget session 2023 saw his attendance fall down even lower to 38%. And it is not just about his participation in the Parliament. Earlier in 2019 Rahul Gandhi lost the family bastion of Amethi, a constituency held by the Congress party since the year it was constituted in 1967 — barring a few odd years. From Sanjay Gandhi to Rajiv Gandhi to Sonia Gandhi, the Amethi constituency was the family fiefdom of the Gandhis and, Rahul Gandhi wouldn’t have had to suffer a humiliating defeat only if they or their heir had nurtured it.

With this as the background, the disqualification of Rahul Gandhi shouldn’t attract much significance. The country might surely miss the entertainment that he provided through the Parliament, but the Parliament is not a standup comedy platform nor a place for theatrics that Rahul Gandhi performs, performances that would shame even our Bollywood scriptwriters.

THE DISQUALIFICATION OF RAHUL GANDHI:

More than 30 lawmakers have been disqualified in the last 9 years the way Rahul Gandhi has been. But the Gandhi scion who was used to being treated like royalty is having a hard time staying out of the power circles. Unable to get himself or his party elected through legit, moral and democratic ways, Rahul Gandhi has resorted to spreading falsehood and divisiveness in an attempt to regain control of the country he thinks is rightfully his to rule over. Anything that Rahul Gandhi says primarily has a lie, a false narrative and a sinister plot to dethrone Narendra Modi, attached to it.

The fundamental trait of a leader is empathy towards his people and mockery of a community is neither warranted nor desirable from someone aspiring to become the Prime Minister. Rahul Gandhi was convicted in a defamation case after he labeled all the people having the last name Modi as “thieves”, and refused to apologize for hurting the sentiments of fellow Indians he one day hopes to rule over. While the disqualification was a direct result of a 2013 Supreme Court verdict, with neither the Lok Sabha secretariat or the BJP having anything do to with it, the Congress led by Rahul Gandhi quickly used this opportunity to spread the lie of democracy being stifled by Narendra Modi. Despite having a strong battery of eminent Supreme Court lawyers at his disposal, Rahul Gandhi did not approach the judiciary for relief from the Surat court sentence. Just a few days back Congress leader Pawan Khera, was protected from being arrested in a defamation case by these very lawyers. Clearly, repeating the customary practice of creating false narratives by staging a political stunt seemed to be a wiser strategy to attack Narendra Modi.

Ironically, Congress under the tutelage of Rahul Gandhi and sister Priyanka Gandhi found Raj Ghat — a memorial dedicated to MK Gandhi who wrote ‘My Experiments with Truth’, as an apt location for their “Sankalp Satyagraha”, which is being held to oppose the disqualification of Rahul Gandhi rendered as a result of a court order. Rahul Gandhi should publish his autobiography titled, ‘My Experiments with Lies’.

Congress leader Pramod Tiwari even went a step further in appeasing the Gandhis by suggested that the courts discriminate between the Gandhis and common citizens by applying the law leniently when it comes to the Gandhis. The statements by the Congress leadership following the Surat court’s verdict smack of an outlook that puts the Gandhi family above the law.

HABITUAL OFFENDER:

Rahul Gandhi has the habit of making fabricated allegations beyond facts. There are several instances, besides him lying, where Rahul Gandhi has chosen to willingly undermine India’s sovereignty.

Mir Jafar of the New India: A commander in the Bengal army under Siraj ud-Daulah, Mir Jafar had betrayed the nawab during the 1757 Battle of Plassey, which eventually paved the way for British rule in India. In his Euro 2023 Trip, speaking to a foreign audience and that too in a country which ruled India for 150 years, Rahul Gandhi made remarks that democracy in India was under threat and that India’s minorities and the press were being attacked by BJP under Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Then he went on to cross the laxman-rekha by expressing his displeasure at the European Union and the United States for not subscribing to his viewpoint and urged these foreign nations to interfere in our nation’s internal matters — indirectly suggesting them to help the Congress party win elections and anoint him as the crown prince. It is pertinent to remember that earlier, Congress leader Mani Shankar Aiyar had asked Pakistan to bestow a similar favor.

Seeking foreign interference in the internal affairs of the country erodes India’s image on the world map. Such appeals do not behoove any parliamentarian, let alone someone seeking to become the Prime Minister. Today, India is asserting itself as a deft world player with increasing success. In this context, Rahul Gandhi’s remarks damaged India’s image at a time when world leaders are visiting India for G-20 meetings.

Democracy in Danger: The practice of selective amnesia is a time-tested technique used by Congress scion Rahul Gandhi. When words drop from Rahul Gandhi’s dynastic lips, the Indian voter who, for more than half a century, had entrusted his bloodline to govern the political apparatus of this ancient civilization, feels scared. This scary quotient is further heightened when he speaks about the Indian Constitution, that singularly has been the victim of unbelievable vandalism and hammering at the hands of his “Iron Lady” grandmother. Congress’ fortunes under Rahul Gandhi might be at peril, but India’s democracy is alive, well and kicking. It is not Narendra Modi, but Rahul Gandhi’s grandmother Indira Gandhi who threatened India’s democracy during the Emergency, when the Constitution was suspended and the Supreme Court rendered impotent; it was his grandmother Indira Gandhi who invoked Article 356 fifty times to suspend and dismiss legitimately elected non-Congress state governments — Rahul Gandhi should do well to remember this the next time he opens his mouth to speak about democracy and Constitution.

It was because of Rahul Gandhi’s great-grandfather, Jawaharlal Nehru, that Majrooh Sultanpuri was jailed for writing a poem against Nehru; Mark Robson’s fictional film on the assassination of MK Gandhi, “Nine Hours to Rama” was banned as it exposed security lapses that led to Bapu’s murder; VS Naipaul’s travelogue during Nehru’s times, “An area of Darkness” was banned; Alexander Campbell’s, “The Heart of India” was banned for being “repulsive” as it exposed the working of Indian bureaucracy under Congress; Kurt Frischler’s book, “Ayesha” was banned; Bertrand Russel’s, “Unarmed Victory” was banned as it showed India’s political masters during the India-China 1962 war in poor light; Mrinal Sen’s, “Neel Akasher Neechey” was banned for it showcased the social-economic abyss under Nehru; English weekly, “Organizer” was censored for being critical of the Nehru government; Nathuram Godse’s testimony was banned; President Rajendra Prasad speech was barred from distribution — Rahul Gandhi should do well to remember this the next time he opens his mouth to speak about democracy and Constitution.

There is every reason to believe that Rahul Gandhi’s knowledge of the Constitution and democracy such as it is, comes from his dense association with JNU-style far-Left radicals and his quid pro quos with the global NGO network innately hostile to India. After faking “antar-aatma ki awaaz” as the reason behind declining the Prime Minster post in 2004, Sonia Gandhi formed her own kitchen cabinet, became a super PM and went on to form an extra-constitutional ‘National Advisory Council’ to control the Manmohan Singh government. The NAC members who enjoyed the status of cabinet ministers without any accountability came from a wide spectrum — they were associated with Church funded NGOs, were Islamists and often terror apologists as well.  Crown prince Rahul Gandhi himself tore an ordinance brought by the UPA government at a press conference — Rahul Gandhi should do well to remember this the next time he opens his mouth to speak about democracy and Constitution.

The same guy who stood behind the slogan ‘Bharat tere tukde honge’ now talks of democracy, Constitution and “Bharat Jodo”. Irony has just committed hara-kiri. Rahul Gandhi’s and Congress’ actions have left them little room for taking the moral high ground. To pose, again and again, as the savior of the country, is not in accordance with the facts.

Undermining India for the Love of China: Rahul Gandhi — by design or by accident — represents a challenge to India’s sovereignty and integrity. He has consistently taken positions that undermine our national interests. In his Euro 2023 trip, Rahul Gandhi was seen drooling over China and denigrating India on foreign soil. The Congress scion heaped praises on China as his presentation slide noted the country as an ‘aspiring superpower’ and a ‘force of nature’. Rahul Gandhi argues that the Chinese value “harmony”, and hails its Belt and Road Initiative — which goes through the illegally occupied Indian territory of Pakistan Occupied Kashmir — as a visionary step.

When a major stand-off between Indian soldiers and Chinese PLA was taking place in Doklam, and the Chinese government-controlled media was making provocative statements against India, Rahul Gandhi, without even notifying the Indian government, headed towards Chanakyapuri-based Chinese embassy to talk to Chinese envoy Luo Zhaohui. The party first denied that Rahul met the Chinese ambassador, only hours later to confirm that the meeting did take place. What mandate did Rahul Gandhi have to talk to a foreign envoy? His meeting the envoy shows his utter disregard for the country’s established norms and values and exposes him as a mindless autocratic spoiled brat.

In his love for China, Rahul Gandhi and the Congress party cross all boundaries. In 2008, a Memorandum of Understanding was signed between the then ruling Congress and the Communist Party of China for a mechanism that would help regular high-level exchanges between them. The deal was signed during party chief Sonia Gandhi’s visit to Beijing. The Congress has till date not published the details of the MoU. It is also a well-known fact that the Congress party affiliated Rajiv Gandhi Foundation took donations from China. Further, despite video evidence to the contrary, Rahul Gandhi mocks Indian soldiers by saying that Indian soldiers were beaten by the Chinese during the Tawang face-off.

Why so much love for China? Is the Gandhi family trying to pay off its debts for the donations they took from them?

Insulting Swatantryaveer Savarkar: It is perhaps not Rahul Gandhi’s fault alone that he inherited the legacy of insulting India’s heroes. Rahul Gandhi and the Congress has repeatedly insulted Veer Savarkar by calling him — traitor, maafiveer, servant of the British etc.

During the freedom struggle, Veer Savarkar was sentenced to life imprisonment and sent to Andaman by the British. Veer Savarkar went through months of solitary confinement; was made to stand with his hands cuffed above for long periods; restrained in chains and flogged; tied to the mill, he was made to extract oil all day, while being denied even basic access to toilets or water; was often forced to eat rotten food infested with worms and insects. Despite this prolonged torture, the only thought in the mind of Veer Savarkar was to free the country of British Raj.

Veer Savarkar sacrificed his life and family for freedom that people enjoy today. On the contrary, Jawaharlal Nehru was given a luxurious cell all to himself — with an armchair, desk, rocking chair, and window. Nehru never faced the same cruelty which Veer Savarkar faced. Rahul Gandhi, who calls Veer Savarkar as maafiveer, should remember the lineage he comes from pleaded with the Viceroy for his son, Jawaharlal Nehru, to be released from his luxurious cell. Before insulting India’s heroes, Rahul Gandhi should remember his Italian lineage who took 15 years after marrying Rajiv Gandhi to even apply for Indian citizenship.

PERPETUAL LIAR:

Rahul Gandhi has a huge ego but little understanding of India’s aspirations. Over the last few years, Rahul Gandhi’s modus operandi has remained the same — propagating lies, making baseless accusations and spreading false narratives with the intent to tarnish Narendra Modi’s image. But every time he tries doing it, he falls flat on his face. At present, Rahul Gandhi is facing another 6 defamation cases against him, besides being out on bail in the National Herald case.

Chowkidar Chor Hai: Rahul Gandhi while attacking Narendra Modi over the Rafale deal claimed that the SC concurred with his accusations of ‘chowkidar (PM Modi) is a thief’. Fact of the matter was that the SC rejected all the petitions related to Rafale jet deal and even dismissed pleas seeking review of their decision, thus giving clean chit to the Narendra Modi government on allegations of irregularities. Rahul Gandhi willingly submitted an unconditional apology in the Supreme Court. Who’s the real maafiveer now?

It was an irony to see Rahul Gandhi talk of scams because, in fact, the Congress has had a vast history of scams — right from the Nagarwal case of 1970s to the Mundada scam in the Life Insurance Corporation that had taken place during the tenure of Jawaharlal Nehru, the Bofors scam under father Rajiv Gandhi and later, an almost monthly ritual of scams that took place during the 10-year tenure of Manmohan Singh as the Prime Minister under Sonia & Rahul Gandhi.

Pegasus Snooping: In his Euro 2023 Trip, Rahul Gandhi reiterated that spyware Pegasus had been used to snoop on him by the Narendra Modi government. He also claimed, “I’ve been called by Intelligence officers who say please be careful of what you say on your phone as we are recording the stuff”.

Hilarious stuff! Hats off to the scriptwriter who made Intelligence officers call Rahul Gandhi to convey that they were tapping his calls. Fact is, Rahul Gandhi or other Congress leaders refused to submit their phones to the Supreme Court-appointed technical committee that probed the Pegasus snooping issue. Following extensive investigation, SC concluded that there was no evidence of Pegasus.

Raising such questions on Indian soil can be arguably justifiable, but the conspiracy to malign the country on foreign soil with the help of foreign friends raises questions on the agenda of the Congress. Rahul Gandhi’s intellectual bankruptcy is evident when he loses no opportunity to malign India on foreign soil.

Remarks on RSS: In December 2015, Rahul Gandhi claimed that RSS women volunteers did not allow him to enter Barpeta Satra, a 16-century Vaishnavite monastery in Assam. The then Assam CM, Congress’ Tarun Gogoi and his son and Loksabha MP Gaurav Gogoi also echoed those comments. Rahul Gandhi is facing another criminal defamation case for these comments.

Within 24 hours of the death of Gauri Lankesh, Rahul Gandhi told reporters that “anybody who speaks against the ideology of the BJP, against the ideology of the RSS, is pressured, beaten, attacked and even killed” — implying RSS to be behind the death. Rahul Gandhi is facing another criminal defamation case for these comments.

Earlier, Rahul Gandhi also alleged that the RSS was behind the killing of MK Gandhi. After the court framed charges against Rahul Gandhi in the case, he told the top court that he never blamed the RSS for the assassination of MK Gandhi.

UNCOUTH MOTORMOUTH:

Arrogance and ego are close cousins. Each of Rahul Gandhi’s narratives are coated with arrogance and ego and each appear as illogical as his previous ones. Those who cannot stop Narendra Modi through democratic ways are indulging in rowdiness here. This is the pessimistic way of Rahul Gandhi; this is the pessimistic way of the Congress. Rahul Gandhi believes if he can’t contribute anything positive, he might as well play the spoiler.

Rape in India: Rahul Gandhi’s senseless jibes against Prime Minister Modi often ridicule the country as well. In order to undermine Narendra Modi’s call for Aatmanirbhar Bharat or ‘Make in India’, Rahul Gandhi said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi said ‘Make in India’ but today what we see is “Rape in India”. Should such serious matters of women safety be reduced to such smuttiness?

Rahul Gandhi’s politics suffers cheap populism. He doesn’t seem to realize that the country — with rising aspirations and a progressively younger demography — is proudly marching towards becoming self-reliant, and his cheap diatribes impress no one but a few Congress stooges. Before coming up with such despicable collations, Rahul Gandhi should remember the rising graph of violent crimes against women during the UPA tenure. Rahul Gandhi should remember that his loyal confidante, Sheila Dikshit remembered the unfortunate Nirbhaya rape case as an attempt by the central government — which he and his mother were remote-controlling — to pin the blame for their unresponsive stance over to the Delhi government. The UPA government under Rahul and Sonia Gandhi was busy shaking off its responsibility at a time when the entire country was shaken to its core and yet Rahul Gandhi, has the audacity to take filthy potshots at Narendra Modi.

Khoon Ki Dalali: Rahul Gandhi led Congress has been at the forefront of undermining and even mocking the surgical strikes carried out by India’s armed forces under PM Narendra Modi. In 2016, Rahul Gandhi accused the Prime Minister of doing ‘khoon ki dalaali‘ by speaking about India’s much improved security scenario. After facing heavy criticism, Rahul Gandhi issued a half-hearted clarification through Twitter.

Since the time Sonia Gandhi took over the Congress, the Congress party has been consistently insulting and undermining India’s security forces. What the top echelons believe, their servants execute. Congress leader Sandeep Dikshit compared India’s first Chief of Defence Staff General Bipin Rawat to General Reginal Dyer — the man responsible for the Jallianwala Bagh massacre — and called the late COAS General Bipin Rawat as “Sadak Ka Gunda“. Many in the Indian media have shown that some leaders in the UPA-II government had sought to build a false narrative that the Army was planning a “coup” while VK Singh was the Army chief in early 2012, perhaps because VK Singh started an anti-corruption campaign in the Army.

Rahul Gandhi and his party, which is already on the brink of being non-existent is facing a bankruptcy of ideas. They are always on an insidious and an invidious venture to tarnish Narendra Modi and haves sunk too low in breaking protocols of civility — nothing good will come of such crooks.

Foulmouthed Minions: Congress believes in gathering minions not by merit but by their loyalty towards the Gandhis. Minions who will willingly shoot themselves in the foot by comparing India to a failing state like Pakistan or by abusing our national icons, just because of Rahul Gandhi’s single-minded hatred and obsession with Prime Minister Narendra Modi — both as a person and office-holder. These Congressmen, irrespective of whether or not they back Rahul Gandhi’s view, cannot go against the family’s wishes as their politics has all been about ingratiating themselves with it.

The comments that were made about the first-ever tribal woman President of the country reflect a similar condescension, which has become an institutional character of the Congress party. Congress leader Ajoy Kumar described Narendra Modi led NDA’s Presidential candidate Droupadi Murmu as someone representing an “evil philosophy of India”. The inherent need that forces Rahul Gandhi’s minions to stoop to such low levels is what Rahul Gandhi has managed to achieve in his life as a politician.

Congress leaders under the tutelage of the Gandhis have taken India’s political discourse to a bottomless pit. Even after becoming the Prime Minister, Narendra Modi was called the “most stupid PM”, Jawanon ke khoon ka dalaal. He was compared to Gaddafi, Benito Mussolini, Hitler. They called him “mentally ill”, Neech aadmi.

The list of abuses hurled at Narendra Modi is massive. Priyanka Gandhi called him Duryodhana; Mani Shankar Aiyar called him a neech aadmi; Ghulam Nabi Azad called him Ganguteli; Jairam Ramesh described him as Bhasmasur; Salman Khurshid likened him to a “monkey” and called him “a frog just out of the well and at a loss to find the right place for himself in the big wide world” — mocking Narendra Modi’s humble background; Abhishek Manu Singhvi labelled Modi as a “Man of Damage to India”; Chidambaram called Modi a “compulsive liar” and an “encounter chief minister”; Arjun Modhwadia said that Modi is “mentally retarded”; Imran Masood said “Modi would be cut to piece”; Renuka Chaudhary said “Modi is a virus”; Manish Tewari compared him with Dawood Ibrahim; and Digvijay Singh likened Narendra Modi to Raavan. They have called him nikamma, nasheri, Aurangzeb se bhi kroor tanashah, anpadh, ganwar, namak haram, nalayak beta, Tughlaq, natwar lal, nakkara beta.

Senior Congress leader Randeep Surjewala’s protest saw repugnant slogans of “Modi teri kabar khudeji” being raised. Addressing a rally, Narendra Modi himself exposed the foulmouthed minions of the Congress saying, “Ek Congress ke neta ne mujhe gandi naali ka keeda kaha, toh doosre ne mujhe Ganguteli bola, ek neta ne mujhe paagal kutta kaha, toh doosra neta saamne aaya aur mujhe Bhasmasur ki upadhi de di. Congress ke ek aur neta hai, desh ke videsh mantri reh chuke hain, unhone mujhe bandar kaha, inke aur ek mantri ne mujhe virus kaha, toh doosre ne Dawood Ibrahim ka darja de diya,” Listing more, Modi said the Congress had also referred him as “Hitler, badtameez nalayak beta, rabies bimari se peedit bandar, chooha, lahu purush, asatya ka saudagar, Raavan, saanp, bichoo, ganda aadmi, zeher bone vaala and maut ka saudagr. He remembers Congress leaders even asked him, “mera pita kaun the, mere dada kaun the, yeh nahi maaloom”.

Opposition leaders having an ideological similarity with the Congress were also seen following Rahul Gandhi’s footsteps. NCP supremo Sharad Pawar likened Narendra Modi to Hitler; Ajit Singh had attacked Modi by calling him a “goat”; Azam Khan referred to Modi as kutte ke bacche ka bada bhai; Rabri Devi described Prime Minister Narendra Modi as a jallad and gandi naali ka keeda.

The responsibility for taking India’s political discourse to such low levels of civility lies purely with Rahul Gandhi. Rahul Gandhi has been deliberately indulging in these theatrics with a definitive idea of spoiling the country’s public discourse.

DEFENDING INDIA FROM INTERNAL SABOTEURS

Jawaharlal Nehru managed to capture the political leadership of the Congress, and as an extension, leadership of independent India by bypassing several more deserving leaders. The Gandhi family has since then believed that their rule over India was their birthright and Rahul Gandhi is only an addition to this thought, to this long line of nepotism and dynastic politics. Congressmen in the party have no political real estate of their own and completely depend on the family for their command over what they have. They have for long been held hostage to the dynasty and are prisoners to the prince’s petulance. The Congress’s sole agenda, therefore, is to restore the status-quo-ante where political power of the country is returned to the Gandhi family once again.

Today, opposition parties in India have also joined hands with Congress and are crying themselves hoarse in condemning Rahul Gandhi’s conviction and expulsion from Parliament as a huge assault on democracy. Many of the ‘liberal’ media-persons and so called ‘intellectuals’ in India have also joined the chorus. But why should the country sympathize with Rahul Gandhi? What is his contribution in enhancing the life of Indians?

Rahul Gandhi can indulge in theatrics, project himself as the people’s leader, mobilize mass agitations against the incumbent government, or pitch himself as the panacea that the country direly needs. All he knows is how to do stunts. India has seen through the duplicity of those raising bogus concerns. Champions of socialism have turned out to be corrupt amassers of wealth, closet capitalists, and torchbearers of secularism became cheerleaders of minority communalism, and worse, public apologists for terrorism and insurgency — all these things happened under the watchful eyes of the Gandhis.

Since 2014, the people of this country have done everything to change this situation of India. By indulging in theatrics against the Constitution and its institutions, Rahul Gandhi is preparing for another self-goal and a further dilution of the faith of the public. People of India are more intelligent than Rahul Gandhi thinks. They are not just mute spectators but are active observers. They are well aware of the corruption and misgovernance which happened under Gandhi controlled Congress governments.

The Gandhi family always places its partisan interest on a higher pedestal than national interest, and Narendra Modi’s biggest political contribution is to end this dynastic rule. The people wholeheartedly supported him — they punished Congress in 2014 and 2019. Now it’s again for the people of the country to decide if the self-proclaimed monarch should have freedom to do and say anything against anyone. India must unite again and stand firmly behind Narendra Modi to defeat this multi-cornered assault on India’s narrative as a rising power.
